But there was a problem in my surname in PAN card and I wanted to know the exact surname mention in my application to avoid any type of confusion. What is a PAN card?

Its full form is Permanent Account Number. A PAN card is an identification number for the taxpayer, having lifetime validity. Online methods to register for PAN:-Go to the PAN – NSDL/UTIITSL official website. Then fill your details in the form. Click on submit. You will be charged some processing fee, pay it. It takes 15 days to dispatch the PAN.

For offline registration of PAN:- Get the registration form from any authorized branch. Fill the details in the form, attach all the required document and submit it in the same office. Pay the fee. The PAN card will be delivered to your home in 15 days.

What is the structure of the PAN card?

PAN card is a small pocket size hard and thick in structure, just like other identity cards. It contains all the details like a PAN number (It is a ten digit alpha-numeric number character, representing some information about the cardholder.), age proof, name, e.t.c. It also contains KYC(Know Your Customer) on it. Cardholder’s name is mentioned in the Individual/ Company type of PAN. For an individual’s it is mandatory to mention the name of the father of cardholders. In an individual type of PAN date of birth of the cardholder is to be mentioned, but in the case of Company, the date of registration is to be mentioned.

The 5th letter represents the first letter of cardholder’s surname.

How can I know the surname in PAN card?

To find out the surname in PAN card you have to follow the following steps:-
step:-1 Go to the Income Tax filing official website.
step:-2 Tap on e-Nivaran then next to Contact Us on the top right corner.
step:-3 Click on Submit Grievance
step:-4 Fill your PAN number in “PAN holder” option, and click on Submit
step:-5 Choose “Continue without registering” from the two given options, “Register and Continue”, and “Continue without registering.
A page will be open, in that page, there is a name written next to the surname option, this name is your surname. Thus you can find out the surname in PAN card

How can I track the PAN card status?

Many time you all feel the requirements to check the PAN application status, processing status, delivery status when you apply for the same. When you apply for a PAN card or for the update or correction of it, you receive an acknowledgment number, that can be used for tracking application or the correction status of Your PAN card. It is an easy process can be done with the few simple steps. This can be done by two online methods:- 1) NSDL portal (https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html. ) and 2) UTI portal (https://www.trackpan.utiitsl.com/PANONLINE/#forward )

 NSDL portal:-

  1.  For tracking the status of PAN card from this website, you have to first open it, with the help of link https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html.
  2. Go to the Application type section and tap on “PAN – New/Change Request”
  3. In the Acknowledgment number section, fill your fifteen digit acknowledgment number in the given box.
  4. Enter the captcha code as same as shown there.
  5. After filling these all requirement now, click on the submit button to submit your information. The website will now show the status of your PAN card.

Note:-The Acknowledgment number can also be used for downloading the e-PAN card.

If you don’t have your Acknowledgment number then,

  1. Visit TIN-NSDL portal:- https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html_bkp24052013
  2. Go to the Application type section and tap on “PAN – New/Change Request”
  3.  In the NSME section, fill up your Last Name, First Name, Middle Name in given appropriate boxes.
  4. Below that, in the date of birth section, fill your date of birth. (Mention that your name and date of birth should be the same as given in the pan card application)
  5. After filling these all requirement now, click on the submit button to submit your information. The website will now show the status of your PAN card.

UTI portal:-

  1. For tracking the status of PAN card from this website, you have to first open it, with the help of link http://www.trackpan.utiitsl.com/PANONLINE/#forward
  2. In the Application coupon number section, fill the ten digit number Coupon number of your existing PAN in the given box.
  3. Enter the captcha code as same as shown there.
  4. After filling these all requirement now, click on the submit button to submit your information. The website will now show the status of your PAN card through UTI.
